LOVE.

For the past few months I have been blogging about the lessons I learnt last year. You can have a look at some of them here and here.  Lessons that I will carry for the rest of my life. However, the one lesson I feel I just never get a grasp of is LOVE. Yes, the dreaded four- letter- word which ranks very highly to the other dreaded four-letter-word, RENT. Anyway, as I was saying, I never seem to quite understand it. Every time I think “Oh, this is what love means”, something happens that proves I couldn’t have been more wrong.

Now, before I continue, let me clarify something. I know there are many kinds of love, but the one I’m focusing on today is love between a man and a woman… you know, the kind that makes babies?? Ok! Right.

I feel like I still got years of learning to do when it comes to love… I’d rather take Algebra than take a love lesson (this coming from someone who can’t do math to save her life). It’s just such a complicated topic and everyone has their own version of it. From books to magazines to TV to Apps to everything, there is always an updated version, a better definition, a different way of looking at it. You’d think the older I get the simpler it should become but everyday the opposite proves true. Either I’m trying too hard or I’m just not trying hard enough. Granted, I’m lazy when it comes to socializing. I tend to prefer my own company and keeping to myself a little bit too much but then when it’s time to go out all I keep thinking about is how warm and comfy my apartment is and how much I miss it…it’s a catch 22 I tell you.

In conclusion, I will soon be turning 30. I hear there is usually a paradigm shift at this age. Hope my perception of love will be altered at this stage and I will start seeing it with a different pair of eyes. Otherwise, of all the seven lessons I learnt last year, this is the only one where I learnt…well.. basically nothing and to make matters worse, Cupid has just informed me that I’l be repeating the class for the 28th year in a row. Man! I should have taken Algebra.
